Professor David Veale was a guest on Frankie Bridge’s Open Mind podcast and answered listeners’ questions about OCD. They covered everything from OCD during Covid to how to support someone with OCD. This 25-minute podcast was released on the 23rd March 2021.

BDD Foundation Podcast ‘Beating BDD’ with David Veale

In this 30-minute podcast, Claire Atherton from the Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) Foundation interviews Professor David Veale about how he came to specialise in BDD, and to answer questions sent in by people with the condition. This podcast was released on the 24th January 2021.

BBC Radio 4 Woman’s Hour interview: Treating emetophobia

BBC Radio 4’s Jane Garvey highlights the challenge of parenting with emetophobia. She speaks to a mum (Lucy Burton) about how she copes with emetophobia and Professor David Veale about treatment. This was broadcast on 19th February 2020.

BABCP Podcast: CBT for Body Dysmorphic Disorder

Dr Lucy Maddox interviewed Professor Veale for the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) about what happens in cognitive behavioural therapy for BDD. She also interviewed Gareth who had successful treatment for BDD. This podcast was released on the 14th March 2019.

OCD Stories Podcast Interviews Dr David Veale

Stuart Ralph of the OCD Stories Podcast interviewed Professor David Veale in 2017. They discussed how to maximise results in therapy, how to get more out of ERP homework, advice on becoming an OCD therapist, Compassion Focused Therapy, and Veale’s research in OCD. This podcast was released on the 22nd January 2017.

BBC Radio 4’s Claudia Hammond investigates Body Dysmorphic Disorder for her ‘All in the Mind’ show. She discusses BDD with Professor David Veale and Gareth Stephens on this programme. This was broadcast on 12th-13th May 2015.

BBC Radio 4 All in the Mind on expanding CBT and ‘talking therapies’

BBC Radio 4’s Dr Raj Persaud reported on Professor Lord Richard Layard’s initiative for Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) and the expansion of CBT. This is discussed in a debate with David Veale and Derek Summerfeld and can be heard at about the 19-minute mark. This broadcast was on 1st May 2007.

Professor Veale discusses OCD on BBC Radio 4 Checkup

Dr Veale was a guest on BBC Radio 4 Checkup with Barbara Myers. Checkup is a medical discussion programme in which listeners phone-in and ask a weekly guest about their particular area of knowledge. This particular week was focused on taking questions from listeners about OCD. This broadcast was in March 2005.
